Finance Officer

CANADEM provides rostering services in the areas of international humanitarian, peace and security operations, serving UN agencies and various governments and international non-government organizations. 
We are looking for a dynamic Finance Officer for our expanded HQ team.

Applicants must be Canadian citizens or have residency status with eligibility to work. 




Duties:
  • Actively engage in deploying CANADEM experts to international field missions including but not limited to:
    • Liaise as required with government departments and international agencies involved in the project.
    • Track and report direct expenditures related to program costs.
    • Provide ongoing financial reports to funders, deployees, HQ staff.
    • Receiving, reviewing and management of invoices, timesheets, expense reports and other financial documents, and completion of other post-mission administrative tasks.
    • Monitoring budgets.
    • Ongoing awareness of project requirements and progress.
    • Preparing payables for payment, ensuring that payments are made by due dates.
    • Ensuring that filing is up to date and items can be easily found by other CANADEM staff.
    • Organization of finance files.
    • Other tasks may be assigned in consultation with the supervisor.

Qualifications:
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to deal with a fast-paced, deadline-driven, ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy and maintain confidentiality in dealing with sensitive employee and consultant data. Strong and demonstrated attention to detail is required.
  • University degree or other relevant degrees combined with professional expertise.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of work experience in an NGO, government department, multilateral organization, or other relevant organization.
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Suite. Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.
  • Good cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and work within tight deadlines. 
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Excellent English skills (French is considered an asset).
