MSS Support Office-Watch Specialist-Fort Lauderdale, USA

Location: These positions are located in Fort Lauderdale, USA. The MSS Support Office is the mission support for the UN Security Council-sanctioned mission to Haiti. This office is staffed by international staff and led by the US State Department. 

 Anticipated start date: August 2024

Duration: 8 months, with possibility of extension.

Overall Qualifications/experience: Candidates should have:
  • Prior experience in multilateral peacekeeping operations.
  • Familiarity with international protocols, conflict resolution, and crisis management.
  • Expertise in financial management within multinational organizations is desirable, including budget planning, allocation, and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with trust funds administration is advantageous.
  • Understanding of the dynamics of working in diverse, collaborative environments
  • Fluency in English and French, with Creole highly desirable.
  • Other relevant experiences within the respective areas of expertise.
Expected tasks and deliverables:
 Watch Specialist: 
•    Serve on shifts determined by the Operations Director.
•    Ensure 24/7 coverage, maintaining situational awareness for the MSS and interested parties (donor nations, international organizations).
•    Monitor critical incidents and provide timely support.
•    Participate in AARs to evaluate operational effectiveness.
•    Contribute insights, lessons learned, and recommendations for improvement.
•    Receive and maintain incident report records from the MSS HQ Operations cell.
•    Collaborate with the MSS HQ Legal Advisor and the MSSO Standards, Conduct & Reporting cell.
•    Ensure proper accountability by managing incident records/Implementing a complaint reporting mechanism to address any issues.
