Background and Justification 

Purpose of the Position 
In the context of the World Health Organization's (WHO) Incident Management System (IMS) for health emergencies, at the country level, the position holder will lead the Coordination Cell of the Emergency Medical Team (EMT) in Port Sudan to ensure the effective and coordinated delivery of emergency medical assistance in the region.

Job Description 

Objectives of the Programme and of the immediate Strategic Objective 
The mission of the WHO Emergency Health Program is to assist countries and coordinate international efforts to prevent, prepare for, detect, respond swiftly to, and recover from epidemics and emergencies.

Organizational context 
Based on priorities set by the WHO incident manager, the position holder will act as the EMT Deputy Coordinator for the crisis in Sudan.

Summary of Assigned Duties 
The position holder will perform tasks in the following areas:
•    Under the guidance of the EMTCC Coordinator, provide technical and strategic advice on all issues related to national coordination of Emergency Medical Teams (EMT), ensuring a consistent operational approach and adherence to EMT core and technical standards, as well as national procedures.
•    Work with the WHO's health operations team to implement the EMT response strategy, including:
•    Support the EMTCC Coordinator to support the weekly EMT/trauma task force in close coordination with Health cluster.
•    Support with communication with all international medical teams seeking to provide health services in response to the crisis in Sudan.
•    Support WHO's trauma coordinator and essential health services teams to integrate EMT methodology into response approaches.
•    Collaborate with the Logistics team to ensure the efficient supply of resources to support EMT operations.
•    Contribute to WHO's weekly reports and, if necessary, support the development of a reporting system tailored to EMT standards.
•    Support EMTCC Coordinator to establish mechanisms for data collection and data management of EMT response activities, ensuring compliance with standards and best practices.
•    Coordinate with the Regional Emergency Medical Teams Secretariat and WHO Headquarters on technical and operational issues related to the deployment and coordination of EMTs.
•    Support the EMTCC Coordinator to liase with relevant Sudanese government ministeries to promote effective inter-agency coordination and avoid duplication of efforts.
•    Participate in and assist EMTCC Coordinator in coordination meetings in Sudan, task forces, and working groups to share information, align strategies, and promote a harmonized response.
•    Advocate for the importance of EMT response and the provision of adequate resources to support its implementation.
•    Perform any other incident-specific tasks as required by the functional supervisor.
